Review: Make Up For Ever HD Microfinish Powder

When tumblr was down on Friday I was forced to use Pinterest. I have to admit that there is an incredible amount of awfulness running rampant on that site. I saw a makeup tip about using some sort of baking powder (!) to set makeup and fend off oil and shine throughout the day. I’m not so sure aboutthat, but it certainly sounds like a brilliant way to wake up with a face that looks like one massive zit.
I have always struggled with the mid-day melt. Well, for me, it’s about 10 a.m. when my face slides off. HOWEVER, I have been saved by one of my newest, most favorite makeup purchases, Make Up For Ever HD Microfinish powder. The Kardashians made the foundation from this same line famous. Obviously I tried it and I’ll admit it was OK, but it’s not on the same level as this powder.
I apply this by sort of rolling it under my eyes with a puff and other places on my face where I’ve used concealer and it instantly tones down, evens and sets my makeup. I focus more under my eyes and then let it sit before dusting off the excess product. I apply a small layer over my entire face with a MAC 182 brush to finish the look. And that’s it… my makeup stays all day with minimal touchups required.

As usual, I'm in love with the pure glamour and elegance Elie Saab exudes.
I had to share my two favorite looks; they're just breathtaking!

college essentials

I'm entering into my last year of college so, naturally, I figured a few new school accessories were in order:

Score from TJ Maxx ... going to be so perfect for transporting my laptop.

In the digital age, while it's tempting to try and organize schedules electronically, I prefer the old fashioned way. This is the prettiest way, which makes it the best way for me. Once I receive it, I'll be sure to tell you all about it.

weekly snapshots

I was so thrilled to receive my Kiel James Patrick bracelet this past week. It's classic and is now in my daily rotation along with my Tiffany bead bracelet.

I also recently acquired a lovely Chloe scent. As always, Sephora can explain it better than I can: "This fresh, smooth floral fragrance evokes sublime powdery rose. The effect is chic, comfortable, and entirely addictive."

I've been a Chanel Eau Tendre girl for several years, but this scent drew me in as it wasn't like anything I've ever owned before. It's safe to say I'm obsessed with it.

Finally, the pearls belong in this photo because, well, why not?

I love finding a (obviously cheap) yet incredibly fun necklace from TJ Maxx. It's the perfect accessory to spice up a plain t-shirt.

A few new throw pillows for the sofa were long overdue. They are lovely when combined with the stripe pattern drapes in the same color family.

Love OPI's new Germany colors and this set for $12.50 is the perfect way to try them out!

I'm usually not a pumpkin girl, but I'm in love with this scent and looking forward to the Michigan autumn.
